A football predictions widget that fills itself

Running a football blog or fan site means always chasing fresh content. Match previews and analysis take time to write, and they go out of date fast. The FootyMath football predictions widget puts data-driven predictions for the coming weekend straight onto your pages and keeps them current on its own, so your visitors always find something new, even in weeks when you do not write.

What the widget shows

The widget lists every match of your chosen league this weekend, Friday to Monday. For each match it shows:

  • both team crests and the kick-off time, converted to each visitor's own time zone and language;
  • a bar with the win, draw and loss probabilities;
  • the model's pick and its probability;
  • fair odds, which are 1 divided by the probability;
  • a 1 to 5 star confidence rating.

Every match links to its full prediction page on FootyMath, with likely scores, season numbers, form and head to head. When the weekend is over, the widget moves on to the next one; during an international break it shows the next scheduled fixtures.

The predictions come from the same statistical model as the rest of the site: team ratings built from goals and shots on target, blended with an Elo rating. Tested on 21,272 matches from July 2023 to October 2026, it picked the right result 50.9% of the time, and 69.5% of the time when it was at least 60% sure. The live record is public on the accuracy page, and the method is explained on how it works.

How to add it to your site

  1. Pick a league and a light or dark theme above.
  2. Check the live preview.
  3. Copy the embed code.
  4. Paste it where the widget should appear: any HTML page, a Custom HTML block or widget area in WordPress, or an HTML embed block in Wix or Squarespace.

The widget loads inside an iframe, so it cannot clash with your site's styles or scripts. It adjusts its height to the number of matches, and it refreshes every hour by itself: there is nothing to update by hand.

Free, with one condition

The widget is free for any site: no sign-up, no API key, no limits. The only condition is to keep the small credit link under it, which reads “<League> predictions by FootyMath”. Predictions are probabilities from a statistical model, not betting advice, and the widget is meant for audiences aged 18 and over.
